PRE - K

(Session 1)

4 & 5 year olds

Monday—Thursday: 8:30-11:30a.m.

Weekly Fees: $30

Description: The morning class is designed to better prepare children for Kindergarten by providing social, physical, and academic growth during structured learning and play. Students will have more activity time to expand their knowledge in the areas of literacy, mathematics, reasoning, music, gross and fine motor development, science, art, technology, and social growth. The curriculum is based on thematic units involving each of the previously mentioned areas of learning. Most units will revolve around our early literacy curriculum from  Neuhaus Education Center .   A portfolio of progress will be put together for each child—consisting of a collection of your child’s work as well as progress reports throughout the year. Assessments will track knowledge of letter recognition, letter sounds, phonetic awareness, social skills, and mathematical concepts. Longer class time allows for more exposure to subject matter and learning extensions.

(Session 2)

3 & 4 year olds

Monday & Wednesday: 12:15-2:15p.m.

Weekly Fees: $12

Description: The afternoon session is an introductory class designed to help your child learn and retain some of the pre-school basics. Children will work on concepts involving color recognition, shapes, counting, socialization, story time, physical development, and creative play. They will also take part in structured activities to aid in the development of gross and fine motor skills—some of which include: scissoring practice, controlled use of crayons, markers and pencils, and gluing skills. The primary focus of the curriculum will be on creative play and the fun of learning. Daily lessons will include stories, art projects, whole group lessons, exposure to letters and sounds, counting and number recognition, and music. Thematic literacy units will be used from the Neuhaus Education curriculum. Children may be pulled individually or with small groups to focus on specific needs or instruction. Student progress will be assessed by the instructor periodically during the year.
