Fellowship Opportunities
Meals
Agape Meal (2nd Sunday of the Month)
Our “Agape Meal” is a monthly event. It is a noon potluck
meal and all are invited to join—even if you didn’t bring food.
Enjoy the food and the conversation!
Wednesday Night Supper ( 6pm in the basement)
Members take turns providing the supper. All are welcome
even if they do not attend a study. Cost $2/person
Coffee Time (Every Sunday @ 9:15am ).
Okay, so this isn’t a meal, but snacks are involved. People spend
time “catching up” over coffee and cookies. This happens just before
Sunday School.
Hoffnungsau Hamburger Fry
Once a year the Deacons sponsor a Hamburger Fry. Members
are encouraged to invite neighbors and friends. Usually towards
the end of September.
The Mission Supper
A time honored annual sausage supper. Usually scheduled
for the end of October, it involves hosting a fund raiser by inviting
area community members to a meal of sausage, mashed potatoes,
creamed peas, bread and pie.
Communion (The Lord’s Supper)
Celebrated 4-5 times a year during worship service. The English
words “communion” and “fellowship” share the same Greek word
“koinonia.”
Groups
Happy Hour Circle
A women’s group that meets at least once a month. They offer
a variety of fellowship activities and service projects. Quilting is
a favorite project that combines service with fellowship.
Mothers Prayer Group
Mothers of young children gather for a lunch meeting on the first
Friday of the month. Child-care provides a reprieve from the rigors
motherhood. They share, pray, study and do service projects together.
Men’s Basketball
During the off season basketball is played on Tuesday nights
under the lights at Hoffnungsau. During basketball season, two
teams play in Buhler and Inman recreational leagues. They join
together to represent Hoffnungsau in the annual Western District
Conference Tournament at Bethel College in North Newton . If
are able to play, you are invited to play.
Sunday School Classes
Many of the Sunday school classes also function as “small-groups.”
Several plan monthly fellowship and service activities.
This includes both the Junior and Senior High youth groups.
